Proctorship Network

Our goal is to offer ongoing surgical education to experienced, high volume rectal surgeons who are interested in integrating this technique into their practice. Experience in advanced laparoscopic colorectal and transanal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS or TEMS) is essential.

The proctorships we are offering are meant to guide the surgeon and their team to adapt the technique into their own practice. Participating surgeons will be offered a proctoring program which includes visiting accredited proctors in their operating room, visits from accredited proctors, as well as standardized competency assessment. The quality of the procedure is assessed using a newly-developed objective video assessment tool in order to achieve the best quality surgery and patient care.

In order to apply for a TaTME proctorship, the surgeon is required to complete a hands-on-course and fulfill volume criteria.
