The Toronto Surgical Ethics Program has offered surgeons of all levels a platform to understand, discuss, and manage ethical issues that arise in surgical practice. Program Directors Drs Mark Camp and Ryan Snelgrove are planning to continue in that tradition with this year’s event program in June.
Past program objectives have included the ability to do the following:
- Confront and resolve difficult problems of underperforming surgeons and trainees.
- Discuss and advise on ethical issues inherent in surgical training
- Provide reliable guidance on expanding boundaries for surgical procedures and patients.
- Apply ethical frameworks to the problem of dealing with OR case prioritization
Registration is now open for the 2018 program, to be held on June 1, 2018, at the University of Toronto Conference Centre. More information will be available in the coming months.
