Featuring interactive lectures, case presentations, and small group workshops, Canada’s largest academic surgery meeting takes place in Toronto from April 15 – 18, 2026.

Presented by the Department of Surgery, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, the Update in General Surgery shares the latest evidence spanning the diverse breadth of general surgery practice. This is reflected in the wide-ranging topics in the conference program, with sessions on breast surgical oncology, endoscopy and GI surgery, acute care surgery, strategies for practice management, and so much more. A highlight of the conference is the small group workshop that allows attendees to refine their surgical skills in abdominal wall anatomy and hernia repair techniques.
