The Canadian Movement Disorders Society’s 2026 Congress is bringing together health professionals, researchers, and scientists from across the country to shape the future of care, research, and collaboration in the field in Toronto from December 4 – 5, 2026.
Congress programming is designed around the questions shaping practice now. More than 20 talks will examine emergent therapies and clinical trials, new technologies, and the barriers that impact access to diagnosis and treatment in different regions.
Sessions will also consider how medical advances are communicated in the media, developments in stem cell trials for Parkinson’s disease and positive trials in Huntington’s disease, standardized MRI protocols, outpatient rehabilitation, and whether new deep brain stimulation technologies are improving care.
The congress also creates space for national coordination. Participants will discuss access to genetic testing, biomarkers, medications, and specialized services across Canada, along with the development of Canadian clinical practice guidelines for Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, and ataxia. A dedicated conversation will also explore how a Canadian clinical trials network could strengthen collaboration and research capacity.
For those seeking current evidence and a clearer view of where movement disorders care is heading in Canada, this congress offers two focused days of learning and collaboration.
