Drawing on key scholarship from the past decade, the presentation will trace the field’s transformation, from reflective and ethical foundations, to integrated research-informed designs, to contemporary frameworks that incorporate identity, equity, and learning analytics. Participants will consider how CPD evaluation can move beyond compliance to capture transformation at the individual, team, and system levels. In addition to exploring these conceptual advances, the session will introduce practical tools and strategies to help educators, program leaders, and faculty developers design and implement meaningful evaluation processes that align with institutional goals and foster continuous improvement.

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

Describe the evolution of program evaluation frameworks in CPD, from early reflective and competency-based approaches to contemporary, multidimensional models.

Critically analyze emerging frameworks (e.g., identity formation, systems learning, and mechanistic logic models) that move beyond traditional outcome measurement toward holistic impact evaluation.

Identify opportunities to integrate innovative evaluation approaches, including data-informed dashboards, reflective tools, and collaborative design principles, into institutional CPD initiatives.

Speaker: David Rojas This session will explore how Continuing Professional Development (CPD) evaluation has evolved from traditional, metrics-driven approaches toward more holistic, meaningful, and system-oriented models.
