This course walks clinicians through the steps they can take to screen, assess, and address cannabis use in the clinic. The approaches covered range from harm reduction to referrals to specialized care. Clinicians can practice some of the skill with fictional patients introduced in the course.
Health risks associated with cannabis use are reviewed, as well as the endocannabinoid system functioning, as reflected in current research.
A review of the legal framework for cannabis use in Canada, at the federal and provincial/territorial levels is laid out, while examining what public-health concepts are implemented.
A brief overview of medical cannabis is offered at the end.
