Summary

This video, Gideon details the programs and services that have been developed by First Nations and Inuit Health Branch’s to facilitate access to oral health care services within their eligible communities. These programs include Children’s Oral Health Initiative, Dental Therapy services, Non-Insured Health Benefits Program, and Dental Benefit. The Oral Health Advisory Committee encompasses evidence-based oral health and disease prevention and works to design multidisciplinary services that are adaptable to the communities’ context and evolving needs. Gideon further explains the relevance of these programs, based on recognition of rights, respect, co-operation, and partnership. At both the regional and national level, the Government of Canada has made commitments to advance reconciliation with Indigenous Health.
