Responding to Anti-Indigenous Racism in the Health Care System

Speaker(s) Featured: Cheryl Ward

Summary

In this video, Ward illustrates what racism looks like and how it is perceived by Indigenous people in the health care system. She discusses how it is discriminatory and a social determinant of one’s overall health. Ward speaks to the common colonial narratives, including denial of anti-Indigenous racism and being dehumanized. By identifying the hot spots for harm and where racism occurs the most, we can look towards solutions and strategize methods in order to instil anti-racist beliefs.
