Dr. Chandran obtained his medical degree at the University of Calicut, Kerala India in 1996 and completed his internal medicine and rheumatology training in India. He came to the University of Toronto in 2004 to train with Dr. Dafna Gladman in the Psoriatic Arthritis Program at Toronto Western Hospital. During this time he was the recipient of several fellowship awards including a Canadian Institutes of Health Research – Clinical Research Initiative fellowship, Canadian Arthritis Network fellowship, Arthritis Centre of Excellence fellowship and the Arthritis Society - Metro A. Ogryzlo International Fellowship.

In 2006 Dr. Chandran undertook a PhD program in Genetic Epidemiology with the University of Toronto, Institute of Medical Sciences and will be defending his thesis in the near future. He was appointed as Faculty with the University of Toronto, Department of Medicine and as staff physician with the Division of Rheumatology, University Health Network in October 2010.

Dr. Chandran has become an independent internationally known researcher in the field of psoriatic arthritis with 50 published papers and over 160 scientific abstracts. He has been an active member of the international Group for Research and Assessment of Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis since 2006 and has been a frequent invited lecturer locally, nationally and internationally.
