Research and Development Resource Base
RDRB : The Ultimate Research and Development Resource for CME
The newest tool on our site is the Research and Development Resource Base, started over 25 years ago as a bibliographic database of CME literature. While initially designed for continuing education, the database has grown to include interventions aimed at changing practice behaviour, optimizing performance and implementing guidelines. RDRB now has over 1700 listings in the form of journal articles, books, conference proceedings and reports in 3 distinct yet inter-related fields:
- Continuing Education and Knowledge Translation
- Interprofessional Literature
- Faculty Development
Each article in the RDRB has extensive keywords, and many offer a short abstract or summary. Searches can be broad-based or very specific depending on the selection of keywords, publication name or author name. The coverage is worldwide; however most records are from English-language sources or have English abstracts. The fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, physical and occupational therapy and other health professions are covered with a focus on Continuing Education and Knowledge Translation for practitioners.
CPD Research has partnered with with the Centre for Faculty Development and the Office of Interprofessional Education at the University of Toronto, The Knowledge Translation Program at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute at St. Michael’s Hospital, the Learning Resource Centre at The Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences, and the AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges) in the ongoing development of RDRB.
