The pandemic has accelerated the shift to an online environment for healthcare teaching and learning. At the same time, there is mounting evidence that combining traditional, face to face (F2F) learning with online, technology enhanced learning, provides improved learning outcomes than either method alone. Now, more than ever, the need to develop a technology enhanced skillset is essential to delivering effective teaching.<\/p>\n
Continuing Professional Development\u2019s Teaching with Technology certificate program offers a 40 hour accredited program to help boost your digital skill set for teaching and learning. This program goes beyond the basics of education in an online environment, to effectively integrate online pedagogical design into successful teaching. <\/p>\n
This program is fully online, allowing anywhere learning. However, it is also highly interactive, and learners will be expected to be present, engaged, and interactive with other learners throughout the sessions. As well, learners are expected to have a moderate proficiency with using technology. For example, we will not be teaching learners how to use specific software, but rather when to consider using them. As such, learners should feel comfortable accessing the internet for self-directed learning to upskill their use of certain software (such as video building software) and engaging in peer-to-peer feedback. As well, learners are expected to use multiple platforms during the course. This course will be delivered through google classroom, slack, and zoom. Due to its \u201chands on\u201d nature, learners will also explore and use other tools as well (Flipgrid, Twitter, Website builders, Video and Infographic creation tools as an example). Learners will not be expected to know all these software at the start of the course, but should feel comfortable in exploring multiple tools throughout the course.<\/p>\n
