Surgical Skills Program for the D2 Gastrectomy

On behalf of the Division of General Surgery, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center, Mount Sinai Hospital, St. Michael’s Hospital and the Toronto Surgical Oncology Group (TORSO), we invite you to participate in a surgical skills program for the D2 gastrectomy June 14-15, 2018.

We are very pleased to host three internationally renowned physicians, Professors Takeshi Sano (Tokyo), Woo Jin Hyung (Seoul), and Roderick Schwarz (Indiana), as esteemed faculty for the program. Through this collaborative meeting, we hope to learn from each other new ways to improve upon the care that Gastric Cancer patients receive in Ontario.

On June 14, we will hold a dinner discussion of optimal management of gastric cancer patients, open to medical oncologist, radiation oncologists, and surgeons. On June 15, we will hold a surgical skills lab for 15 practicing surgeons. Participants of the June 15 skills lab are expected to attend the dinner symposium on June 14.

In addition to being the FIRST D2 gastrectomy program to be held in North America, this will be the first D2 program to use peer-based coaching to facilitate learning and improve collaboration amongst surgeons. We hope you will join us in this exciting program for practicing surgeons.
