First Nations Youth Smoking: Factors associated with resilience

Speaker(s) Featured: Alana Roscoe

Summary

The influence of commercial tobacco presents conflicting messaging about smoking in Indigenous communities. What has served as a sacred practice among Indigenous elders for centuries is now ubiquitous and misused among youth. Alana Roscoe shares research conducted by the FNIGC, in collaboration with Drs Colleen Dell and Laura Wright from the University of Saskatchewan, exploring resilience factors associated with smoking cessation and the likelihood that youth will be non-smokers in this illuminating talk.
