Andrew F. Alexis MD, MPH
Weill Cornell Medicine
Dr. Alexis is a Professor of Clinical Dermatology at Weill Cornell Medicine whose work involves patient care, clinical research, and education in a broad range of dermatologic conditions including inflammatory, pigmentary, and hair disorders. He is the former Chair of the Department of Dermatology at Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West. Having served as Director of the first-of-its-kind Skin of Color Center for over 15 years, his work has helped to advance our understanding of dermatologic disorders that are more prevalent or nuanced in populations with skin of color.
Dr. Alexis received his medical degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons and his Master of Public Health at Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health. He completed his dermatology residency at Weill Cornell Medicine, followed by a fellowship in dermatopharmacology at NYU Langone’s Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology.
Dr. Alexis has published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals including the British Journal of Dermatology, Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, and JAMA Dermatology among others. He has co-edited four textbooks and authored over 10 book chapters. Dr. Alexis is a frequent lecturer at national and international conferences and has been invited as a Visiting Professor or Grand Rounds speaker at many prestigious academic institutions.
Dr. Alexis has held numerous leadership positions in professional organizations including Past President of the Skin of Color Society, the New York Dermatological Society, and the New York Academy of Medicine Dermatology Section. He currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the American Academy Dermatology and Scarring Alopecia Foundation.
Dr. Alexis has appeared on ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX television news programs and has been quoted in numerous leading publications, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Vogue, Allure, and Essence. He is listed in Castle Connolly’s Top Doctors ™.

John Barbieri MD, MBA
Brigham and Women’s Hospital
John Barbieri is an Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School and the Director of the Advanced Acne Therapeutics Clinic at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is an associate editor at JAMA Dermatology and is also the co-chair of the American Academy of Dermatology Acne Guidelines Work Group.
His research is focused on conducting innovative clinical trials, health economic, and epidemiology studies to identify the best approaches to care for patients with chronic skin disease such as acne, rosacea, psoriasis, and atopic dermatitis. He also focuses on exploring the role of patient-reported outcomes to ensure we are capturing the patient’s voice and perspective on their care.
Dr. Barbieri has received consulting fees from Honeydew Care and Sanofi Pasteur.

Jorge R. Georgakopoulos MD, FRCP
University of Toronto
Jorge Georgakopoulos is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs Micrographic Surgeon with clinical expertise in cutaneous oncology and facial reconstruction. He is a Clinical Associate at University of Toronto within the Division of Dermatology conducting Mohs surgery at Carlton Skin Clinic and cutaneous oncology clinics at Toronto General Hospital and Princess Margaret Hospital. Dr. Georgakopoulos completed his undergraduate and Doctor of Medicine degrees at Western University. He then completed his dermatology residency and Mohs surgery fellowship at University of Toronto. Dr. Georgakopoulos has received global recognition for his research work having published over 80 peer-reviewed articles in leading journals, earned several national distinctions, including the Best Young Researcher Award and been involved in the approval of therapies through Canada's Drug Agency.

Melinda Gooderham MD, MSc
Queen’s University
Melinda Gooderham is a Dermatologist and Medical Director at the SKiN Centre for Dermatology, as well as an Investigator with Probity Medical Research. She serves as an Assistant Professor at Queen’s University and a Consultant Physician at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre. Additionally, she is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
As the principal investigator for 250 clinical trials, Dr. Gooderham specializes in inflammatory skin diseases. She actively contributes to the dermatology community as an associate editor and reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals. She has authored over 250 peer-reviewed articles, including publications in The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, and the British Journal of Dermatology. As an international speaker, she enjoys lecturing to global audiences on emerging therapies for skin diseases.

Thomas Leung MD, PhD
University of Pennsylvania
Thomas Leung is an Associate Professor of Dermatology at the University of Pennsylvania and the Philadelphia VA. He went to college at Stanford University and received his MD/PhD from the UCLA-Caltech MSTP program. As a graduate student with Nobelist David Baltimore, he studied gene regulation and NF-kB signaling.
His NIH- and VA-funded lab consists of biologists, clinicians, and computational scientists working together to study how skin and other organs respond to injury and inflammation, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes. They focus on understanding the molecular drivers of scar formation, unraveling the mechanisms driving skin diseases, identifying prognostic and predictive biomarkers to improve clinical diagnosis, and discovering new treatments to enable personalized medicine.
He serves as Director of the Research residency track at Penn, which has become one of the largest and most successful in the country. He also serves as a Core Director for the Skin Translation Core within the NIH-funded Skin Biology Disease Resource Center (SBDRC) at Penn.
Thomas has won numerous awards, including election into ASCI, the Montague Award given by the Perelman School of Medicine for an outstanding young investigator, and the Young Investigator award from the American Academy of Dermatology.

Vincent Piguet MD, PhD, FRCP, FCAHS
University of Toronto
Professor Vincent Piguet MD, PhD, FRCP, FCAHS, trained at the School of Medicine, University of Geneva and graduated in 1995. He spent two years doing research in virology and immunology at the Salk Institute in San Diego, USA. He obtained his MD and PhD (2000/2001) and his specialist certification in Dermatology & Venereology (2004) from the Swiss Medical Association. He obtained Swiss National Science Foundation Assistant Professorship (2003) and was Associate Professor at University of Geneva (2009). He was appointed Professor and Chair of the Department of Dermatology and Wound Healing at Cardiff University, Wales, UK (2010). He obtained UK certification in Dermatology (2011) and in 2014 became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. In 2011 he was appointed Director of the Institute of Infection and Immunity at Cardiff University. In 2017, he was appointed as Full Professor and Department Division Director of Dermatology, Department of Medicine, University of Toronto and Division Head of Dermatology, Women’s College Hospital, Toronto.
Professor Piguet has authored over 285+ publications in the fields of dermatology and virology in top journals including Cell, Immunity, The Lancet and Journal of Investigative Dermatology. He has received numerous grants to further his research in the areas of HIV, psoriasis, melanoma and immunology. Professor Piguet has given more than 150 lectures at national and international meetings, including at the World Congress of Dermatology and HIV Keystone meetings. He is on the editorial boards of several journals, including the British Journal of Dermatology and is deputy editor for the Journal of Investigative Dermatology. He is the Past-President of the European Society for Dermatological Research and past President-Elect of the European Dermatology Forum, and in 2017 was honoured with membership of the Academia Europaea. Dr. Piguet was named a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences in 2021.

Christine Song MD, FRCPC
University of Toronto
Dr. Christine Song is a Clinical Immunologist and Allergist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre's Drug Allergy Clinic. Prior to joining Sunnybrook in 2025, she had a comprehensive allergy and immunology practice at St. Michael's Hospital, where she still works part-time. As a Clinician Teacher she serves as the Residency Program Director for the Adult Clinical Immunology and Allergy training program at the University of Toronto. She also teaches Immunology for the MD Foundations pre-clerkship program. Her clinical and research area of interest is drug hypersensitivity, helping her patients navigate safe options for medications despite significant allergic reactions.

Sheila Wang MD, PhD, FRCPC
University of Toronto
Dr. Sheila Wang is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, Clinician-Investigator and Staff Dermatologist at Women’s College Hospital and co-founder of Swift Medical, where she leads innovation in digital dermatology and AI-powered imaging. Dr. Wang was awarded the 2021 Canadian Governor General’s Innovation Award, the 2019 Canadian Medical Association Young Leader Award, the 2019 Joule Innovation Award and the American Academy of Dermatology Quality Improvement Award.

Phil Doiron BSc (Pharm), MD, FRCPC, DABD
Dr. Doiron completed a degree in pharmacy at Dalhousie University, medical school at McMaster University, dermatology residency at the University of Toronto, and a fellowship in HIV dermatology and male genital skin disease at the Chelsea & Westminster Hospital in London, UK. He also holds a Masters in Health Science Education from McMaster University. He currently works as an Assistant Professor and Clinician Teacher at Women’s College Hospital, and the University Health Network. He is the Program Director for the Dermatology Residency Program at the University of Toronto.

Aaron Drucker MD, ScM, FRCPC
Dr. Aaron Drucker is a dermatologist and clinician scientist focusing on the epidemiology and evidence-based treatment of skin diseases. He completed his dermatology residency at the University of Toronto followed by a master’s and research fellowship at Brown University before joining Women’s College Hospital and the University of Toronto as faculty in 2017. An overarching aim of Dr. Drucker’s research program is to answer questions that are important to patients and clinicians about the effectiveness and safety of commonly used medications for skin diseases.

Marissa Joseph MSc, MD, FRCPC (Pediatrics), FRCPC (Dermatology)
Dr. Joseph graduated with combined honors in biochemistry and biology from Dalhousie University, and then completed medical school at Dalhousie University. She is a fully board-certified Pediatrician and Dermatologist after completing pediatric training at the Hospital For Sick Children and dermatology training at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Joseph is affiliated with the University of Toronto and is committed to excellence in clinical care and teaching. She is a member of the Canadian Dermatology Association, Canadian Medical Association, Ontario Medical Association, American Academy of Dermatology, Canadian Pediatric Society and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Dr. Joseph enjoys her diverse practice in general adult, pediatric, adolescent, ethnic and surgical dermatology. She is focused on providing your family with the best care for your skin concerns at Women’s College Hospital.

Perla Lansang MD, FRCPC
Dr. Perla Lansang is a full-time staff dermatologist and associate professor in the Division of Dermatology, University of Toronto. She is based at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre where she served as Division Director for 3 years. Prior to that, she was the Director of Undergraduate Education for the Division of Dermatology for over 10 years.
She is cross-appointed at the Section of Paediatric Dermatology at the Hospital for Sick Children where she runs a pediatric psoriasis clinic, and the Division of Obstetric Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
Dr. Lansang completed her medical school and dermatology residency at the University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital. Having done fellowships in pediatric dermatology at The Hospital for Sick Children and in advanced medical dermatology at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Dr. Lansang’s practice is a mixture of pediatric, adolescent, and adult dermatology, with a special focus on psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, pregnancy dermatoses, autoimmune bullous diseases, and general medical dermatology. She has a special interest in immune-mediated skin diseases and has extensive clinical and research experience in many areas of immunodermatology.
