Fundamentals of Mental Health Online Course (2026)

One in five Canadians experiences a mental health problem in a given year. This five-module, self-directed online course explores basic concepts of mental health and mental illness. The prevalence of mental health problems in Canada, the risk and protective factors that influence mental health, and the links between mental health and the social determinants of health are explored.

The importance of creating a safe space for clients and developing a positive therapeutic relationship are discussed. Various treatments for common mental health challenges-including psychoeducation, lifestyle changes, medications and psychotherapy are described, and additional strategies to support clients and their families are explored.

2025 Immigrant and Refugee Mental Health Project Leadership Course

This course is for leaders who are committed to understanding immigrant and refugee mental health and who lead staff working with immigrants and refugees in Canada. This includes organizations in the health, settlement, social service sectors. The leadership course will improve leader’s knowledge about the support required for immigrants and refugees. It is designed to help leaders understand the mental health needs of immigrants and refugees in order to develop appropriate policies, increase their knowledge on what is required to create a supportive environment for staff so they can promote the mental health of immigrants and refugees and introduce organizational strategies that support and improve the mental health of immigrants and refugees.

Advanced Training Program in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy

This 3 year program included 60
weekly three-hour seminars over two
years, which focused on both
theoretical knowledge and clinical
skills.
Trainees were required to treat two
adults in long-term psychoanalytic
psychotherapy and complete 100
hours of supervision from two
psychoanalytic therapists.
Methods of evaluation included
demonstration of specific skills in
supervision, written case reports,
clinical presentations and independent
assessor reports.

2025 Culturally Adapted Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for Black Populations

Culturally Adapted Cognitive‐behavioural therapy (CA-CBT)
Cognitive‐behavioural therapy (CBT) is a highly effective therapy for the treatment of common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. While CBT works for clients from most cultural backgrounds, research has shown that adapting CBT to meet the needs of specific groups increases its effectiveness.

This course discusses practical cultural adaptations to traditional CBT for depression and anxiety for improved treatment experiences and outcomes for Black Populations. It is intended for mental health professionals who have prior training, knowledge and experience in cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT).

2025-2026-ECHO (Extension for Community Health Outcomes) Ontario Mental Health

CAMH provides leadership to the overall Program, titled “ECHO Ontario Mental Health”, which encompasses eight unique ECHO courses including: ECHO Ontario Mental Health, ECHO Ontario Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, ECHO Ontario Addiction Medicine and Psychosocial Interventions, ECHO Ontario Integrated Mental and Physical Health, ECHO Ontario Psychotherapy, ECHO Ontario Trans and Gender Diverse Healthcare, ECHO Ontario Adult Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, and ECHO Ontario First Nations, Inuit and Métis Wellness.

Learning in these programs is supported through the provision of didactic presentations and interactive case-based learning during every session. ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) is a ‘Hub’ and ‘Spoke’ model of knowledge sharing which links expert specialist teams (the “Hub”) with Ontario healthcare providers in local communities (the “Spokes”), using multi-point videoconferencing.

Recovery Oriented Approach online course

This course is part of the Concurrent Disorders (CD) and the Opioid Dependence Treatment (ODT) Certificate Programs. It is intended for mental health, addiction and allied health professionals who have completed the Concurrent Disorders Core Course and who have experience working with clients with concurrent disorders. The course aims to help these learners further their understanding of the recovery-oriented approach. Most of the content is applicable not just to recovery from both mental illness and substance use issues, but also to recovery from either one or the other. This seven-week course consists of seven modules, allowing learners to focus on one module per week

The Five Weekend Care of the Elderly Certificate Course 2026

The Five Weekend Care of the Elderly Certificate Course is an enhanced learning experience that is of greater depth than a Continuing Medical Education (CME) conference, but not as time consuming as a one-year clinical care of the elderly fellowship. It is aimed at primary care physicians (family physicians/trainees/nurse practitioners) who want to develop their own clinical skills or function as resources in their group practices. Geriatric “pearls” gained from experienced clinicians are provided.
