Part Two

Prescribing Opioids in Chronic Pain

This is the second session of the Safer Opioid Prescribing series.

The webinar is approximately 90 minutes in length and starts promptly at 7:00pm (ET).

After active engagement with this program, you will be better able to:

  • Define your professional responsibility to manage patients’ chronic pain
  • Assess your patients global risk of opioid overdose and opioid use disorder
  • Evaluate the potential effectiveness of different opioid therapies for chronic pain
  • Initiate and monitor opioid therapy for your chronic pain patients

Part Three

Addressing Opioid Challenges

This is the third and final session of the Safer Opioid Prescribing series.

The webinar is approximately 120 minutes in length and starts promptly at 7:00pm (ET).

Learning Objectives: Addressing Opioid Challenges

After active engagement with this program, you will be better able to:

  • Switch, taper, and discontinue opioid therapy when risks outweigh benefits
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to manage chronic pain
  • Implement structured opioid prescribing with your patients when indicated
  • Prevent, diagnose and manage opioid use disorder in your patients

Workshop

Challenging Cases in Opioid Use and Misuse Workshop

This small group problem based interactive workshop builds on the knowledge and expertise shared in the first three webinars.

Learning Objectives

After active engagement with this program, you will be better able to:

  • Recognize and address risks and complications of opioid prescribing
  • Implement clinical skills for safer prescribing of opioids
  • Identify Opioid Use Disorder and outline treatment options
  • Use effective communication with chronic pain patients

The webinars and workshop are offered in a digital format. A Zoom link will be sent to participants prior to each session.

Pre and Post Session Assignments

Overview: Approximately two weeks prior to each webinar and the workshop you will be provided with your pre-session assignment and instructions to connect and participate in the webinar. Following the webinar and the workshop you will be required to complete a post-session assignment. Pre-session and post-session exercises are submitted electronically.
