Frequently Asked Questions

  1. When will I get my accreditation letter?
    Accreditation letters will be issued after the post-work assignments have been reviewed. This can take up to 12 weeks.
  2. How do I obtain full credits for the program?

    Webinars – Learners must complete ALL pre-work, participate in ALL webinars and complete ALL post-work to obtain full credits for the program.The webinar series is accredited for up to 9.0 Mainpro+ credits and up to 9.0 Royal College Section 1 credits. Each webinar is worth a total of 3 credits and learners can receive partial credits for the pre-and-post-work assignments and attendance.

    Workshop – Pre-work, attendance at the workshop and post-work are required to obtain full credits for the program.
    The workshop is accredited for up to 18.0 Mainpro+ credits and up to 6.0 Royal College Section 3 credits.

    Credit allocation is dependent on successful completion of all requirements.

  3. I don’t have access to patient records to complete the assignments. What can I do?
    If you do not have access to current patient records to complete the assignments please use past records or consult with a colleague. You must complete the assignments to receive full credits.
  4. When will I gain access to the pre-work assignments?
    Webinars and Workshop
    The pre-work assignment will be sent to you three weeks before the start date. If you are registering less than three weeks before, you will be sent the pre-work following your registration.
    The pre-work assignment must be submitted before the start of the webinar series or workshop.
  5. What is the time investment required for the pre-work?
    Registrants should allocate 30-60 minutes in order to complete the pre-work.
  6. When are post-work assignments due?
    Webinar – Each post-work assignment is due 4 weeks after the webinar
    Workshop – The first post-work assignment is due 4 weeks after the workshop and the second is due 8 weeks after the workshop.
  7. When will I be able to access the link to the webinars?
    You will receive the access link in the week prior to the webinar. Please ensure that your system works by testing Zoom.Computer system requirements can be found on the opioid webinar website for details.

    The Zoom webinar link opens at approximately 6:45 PM Eastern Time and registrants may begin to log in at this time. Each webinar is approximately 120 minutes in length and starts promptly at 7:00 PM Eastern Time.

  8. Do I need to the webinars in order to do the workshop?
    Yes. The webinar series is a prerequisite for the Challenging Cases in Opioid Use and Misuse workshop.

  1. What is Saegis and how are they involved in the Safer Opioid Prescribing program?

    Saegis is a subsidiary of the CMPA that offers in-depth and specialized healthcare solutions to reduce risk and improve patient safety. Its programs and services address the specific challenges facing including physicians, healthcare professionals, teams, hospitals and clinics.

    U of T partnered with Saegis in order to expand the awareness and reach of the Safer Opioid Prescribing program outside of Ontario, and across Canada.

  2. What happens if participants are unable to attend one of the webinars ?

    All three webinars and the workshop must be completed to meet program requirements. Please contact opioids.cpd@utoronto.ca if one of your participants is unable to complete the series.

  3. Where is the program located?

    Webinars – the three webinars are offered online; participants can take part from anywhere in Canada, through an internet connection

    Workshops:

    • For individuals who register online, workshops are held periodically in Toronto
    • For groups, the workshop can be conducted at a location of your choice. Contact opioids.cpd@utoronto.ca for details and pricing
  4. What type of venue and AV set-up is required to conduct the workshop?

    The workshops can be conducted in a meeting or training room that is large enough to accommodate the number of participants.

    Facilitators will need a projector and screen for a slide presentation, and a flip chart.

  5. Is the program available in French?

    Currently the webinars are only available in English. The workshop can be conducted in French.
