Challenging Cases in Opioid Use and Misuse Workshop

This workshop is presented by University of Toronto Faculty, and is an in-person, full day workshop. This is the fourth and final section in the Safer Opioid Prescribing Series.

Prerequisite

Completion of the Webinar Series is mandatory before registering for this course. This includes the completion of the pre-webinar assignment, attendance and participation in the webinar, and the completion of the post-webinar assignment:

  2. Prescribing Opioids in Chronic Care
  3. Addressing Opioid Challenges

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize and address possible risks and complications of opioid prescribing.
  • Implement clinical skills for safer prescribing of opioids.
  • Identify Opioid Use Disorder and outline treatment options.
  • Use effective communication with chronic pain patients.

Approximately two weeks prior to the course date, and with your paid registration, you will be provided your pre-course assignment and instructions. Following the workshop you will be required to complete two post course practice application assignments and submit electronically.

Accreditation

Continuing Professional Development (CPD), Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto, is fully accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Continuing Medical Education (CACME), a subcommittee of the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS). This standard allows CPD to assign credits for educational activities based on the criteria established by The College of Family Physicians of Canada, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

As a result of a reciprocal agreement between the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of
Canada, The American Medical Association, and The European Union for Medical Specialists,
CPD is permitted to assign respective credits.

Cancellation Policy

Refunds will not be issued for cancellations received less than 10 Business days prior to the start date of the course.

  • Any Cancellation 31 days prior, a processing fee of $150.00 CAD (plus HST) will be retained.
  • Cancellations 30 days – 10 days, a processing fee of $325.00 CAD (plus HST) will be retained.
  • Cancellations less than 10 days, the fee is $650.00 CAD (plus HST) / 100% of the registration fee.

Registrations are not transferable.

Requests for cancellation must be made in writing.

The University of Toronto reserves the right to cancel events. Registrants will be notified at the earliest possible date in the event of a cancellation. Registration fees for events cancelled by the University will be refunded; however, the University will not be liable for any loss, damages or other expenses that such cancellations may cause.
